For once the forecast of rain was wrong, it remained dry for the duration of the match, low cloud, very mild and flat calm conditions..!
Rob Swan stole the show today, capitalising on end peg 28 with a superb net of chub, ide and carp for 86lb 8oz, I’m sure his sponsors will be impressed as he continues to develop his fishing skills..!
Don Lines also had a great days fishing, finishing 2nd with 54lbs 4oz, mainly Carp and skimmers caught on pole.
Craig Duncan was a respectable 3rd with 42lbs, with big ide featuring heavily in his net.!
On Wallace Lake it was tight at the top with Ian Whitson narrowly winning the section by a mere 1lb 4oz, Ian caught carp steadily throughout the match on the method feeder.
Barry Young was a very close 2nd with 71 ide and 3 carp caught on maggot / pole, with one 8lb carp lost at the net and another disappearing with his slip elastic proving costly..!
Steve Royle was a bit out of sorts for once, drawing end peg 46 he lost as many carp as he landed, opting to fish the pellet waggler, with lots of fish lost in the stick – ups, he settled for 3rd place with 34lbs.
Not very often both end pegs fail to frame.!
