Natural Surroundings

Wildlife at Broom Fisheries

If you’re an avid fisher but your partner would rather relax in beautiful natural surroundings then Broom is ideal for you as we have many lanes for you to walk, either alone or with your dog.  Broom Fisheries is situated within a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), which is an area that is considered to best represent our natural heritage.

Maybe you like the peace and quiet to read or just enjoy the sounds of nature, we have a fantastic array of wildlife on site ranging from the rare and endangered Natter Jack Toad to Badgers, Deer, Bittern and Dingy Skippers – a rare form of butterfly which was spotted this year by one of our visitors.

Further Afield

Caerlaverock Castle, Dumfries

For those looking for an alternative to a day on the lake (perhaps to entertain a non-fishing other half), we’ve compiled a handful of great local attractions across the beautiful region of Dumfries and Galloway.

Alternatively, you could always indulge in some retail therapy at nearby Dumfries, Carlisle or Gretna Gateway Outlet Village, all within a short 20-minute drive away where you’ll find a wide range of fantastic shops, cafés and attractions on offer.
