Another lovely dry and mild day, overcast but with some strong gusting winds.
Some nice weights and close sections on day two of the festival.
With quite a few in contention going into today’s match, all eyes were on the drawbag.!
Ian Whitson ( 2nd yesterday) drew well on end peg 16 on Queensberry, Chris Gorrel ( 1st yesterday) drew well on peg 46 on Wallace Lake, with Matty Threfal ( 1st yesterday) *drawing end peg 32 on Wallace Lake today.
Meanwhile Barry Young ( 2nd yesterday) had drawn OK also on Queensberry peg 26, Eddie Bibby ( 1st yesterday) drew Queensberry p21, with Symon Willan ( 1st yesterday.) on Queensberry p24.
Drawing well turned out to be a defining factor today for those in contention.
Chris Gorrel scored his second section win with 50lbs 12oz of silvers from peg 46, section 2 on Wallace Lake, with Matt Threfal also winning his section for the second time from peg 32, section 1 on Wallace Lake.
That pretty much sealed the deal for the top two places, with Chris and Matt tied on 2pts, Chris winning the top £1000 first prize on weight., with Matt securing second spot.
On Queensberry Water Ian Whitson won comfortably from his peg 16, section 1, giving him a 3pts tally and 3rd place overall in the final results.
Fourth place would be decided on weight, with Mark Clow (. 1st & 3rd.),and Barry Young (. 2nd & 2nd.),tied on 4pts, Mark Clow winning on weight.
