SFCA Pairs Match – 10th October 2021

SFCA PAIRS MATCH
Sunday, October 10th BROOM FISHERIES
We have 15 registered pairs + 2 reserve pairs should anyone, unfortunately, pull out.
Sadly we didn’t reach the 42 required to take the 3 Lakes and fell 8 short.
The match will now be confined to two lakes.
Queensberry Water – ZONE 1 and Wallace Lake – ZONE 2
Each pair can decide prior to the draw where each individual would like to fish, ZONE 1 or ZONE 2
Each pair will be called out and a peg drawn for each angler from the respective bags
The draw is at 9 am sharp and will be done in order of entry by the fishery staff, keeping with Covid guidelines and your own welfare!
Match fee is £20 ” All in ” Match times 11am – 4.30pm
Section payouts will be £30 Top 2 pairs overall 1st – £80 2nd – £40 ( based on 15 pairs )

Section 3 = pegs 25, 26, 27, 28, 29

Wallace Lake

Section 2 = pegs 36, 37, 38, 41, 42
Section 3 = pegs 43, 44, 45, 46, 47
Pairs winners will be decided on Section points, and in the event of any tie then the overall weight will be taken into consideration.

We were blessed with some nice mild Autumnal weather today, and nice to see a decent turnout for the match

It was pretty much a tale of two halves today, with Wallace Lake fishing much better than Queensberry Water.

As in any match, you need a little luck in the draw, and as a pair, you need two .!!

James Woodrow on Q20 and David Corcoran on W42, John Wright on Q26 and Kyle Kirkpatrick on W31, Steve Royle on Q19 and Barry Young on W35, Scott McGhee on Q22 and his partner Donald Bramcombe on W46 were probably the pick of the bunch.

And today it was all about sterling and pretty much unbeatable performance from James Woodrow and David Corcoran weighing in 60lb 8oz and 68lb 12oz respectively, and a top score of 2pts giving them the SFCA PAIRS
Title…well done and thorough deserved guys .!

Runner’s up places

Pairs John Wright / Kyle Kirkpatrick finished on 3pts, 94lb 6oz, edging out Barry Young / Steve Royle also on 3pts but losing on weight 72lb 10oz

Well done to Kyle Kirkpatrick on winning the match individually too .!!

Queensberry Water turned out to be very moody today, and Wallace Lake fished better in the first half of the match for sure.
