Today Broom Fisheries was delighted to host a match for the anglers from The George and Dragon angling club. Every year they make the journey from their home town to spend a few days at the fishery and it’s always great to see some familiar and new faces. Many of the anglers traveled up on the Friday and took the opportunity to fish and some had a great day on Piggies catching some good Rudd. Today 23 anglers fished Bruce’s Acre and Wallace’s. The weather was kind to start with but unfortunately they were subject to a few heavy showers which may have dampened them but not their spirits. On Bruce’s Acre Andy Perkins won section 1 with 14lb from peg 7 and managed to net a cheeky barbel, most of his fish caught on the pole. Frank Whittle won section 2 from peg 13 with a good mixed bag for 10lb 8oz fishing the feeder close to the bridge. Wallace’s section 1 was won by Simon Dowson who fished the waggler for 22lb 5oz from the end Peg 33 and he was also the overall match winner. Jack Modley managed to pip Peter Middleton to win section 2 by 6oz. Weighing in 17lb 10 oz from peg 44. We really hope you all enjoyed your day at the fishery really it was really good to see you all and for those that are fishing tomorrow tight lines. Would be good if a few of us from Broom Fisheries could come down and fish your lake, that could be a challenge for next year. Have a safe trip home and see you next year.
