A beautiful sunny day and around 20° c, probably a bit bright and too nice for fishing ?.. And a surprisingly low turnout for today’s match.
However, those that did enjoyed not only the good weather but some good fishing too.
Carp pretty much dominated the match today, with fewer silvers than normal caught… We think the ide are spawning, and the roach and skimmers have been having a go too.!
In section 2 Barry Young drew end peg 46, and with Carp rolling in the margins he just had to come up with a plan to catch them. Opting for the pellet waggler he had 30 carp, with a further 3 and a skimmer on the method feeder.
With 5 Carp lost during the match, he was unlucky not to do the ” Ton” but weighed in a superb 92lbs 8oz to win the section and overall match.
Rosen Arsov finished 2nd in section two with a very respectable 45lb 8oz.
In section 1 Mark Acton had drawn end peg 33, the one everyone wanted… And it didn’t disappoint.!
Mark caught small stockies throughout the match along with a few ide and finished off with a cracking big 15lb common Carp in the margin to weigh in a total of 70lb 4oz, winning his section and second overall in the match.
Myles Watt fished well to finish second in the section with a net of small stockie carp for 49lbs.
Great weights and a great effort from all, well-done guys.
