Mainly dry today, overcast with temps around 12 ° C, a gentle breeze with a heavy shower mid match.
The lake has fished surprisingly well considering all the recent heavy rain, and the water a lot clearer than normal.
In section 1 everyone wanted end peg 32, the ” best peg in Scotland” apparently. ?, and Mark Acton was the lucky ? Angler to draw it today.
True to form, the peg didn’t disappoint, and Mark caught carp steadily throughout the match, (. And lost a few.), to win the section with ease. When the scales appeared Mark put an impressive 94lb 12oz into the weigh sling, those lost carp costing him that magic Ton weight, but a deserved section win none the less.
Second place in section 1 went to Steve Royle who had a late run of carp on the method feeder to weigh in 55lb 10oz, with Myles Watts net of silver fish a very close 3rd with 53lbs.
In section 2 few carp were playing ball, so targeting silver fish was the answer.
Barry Young had a steady day catching mainly ide, the odd chub, skimmer and a carp on pole with maggot / worm to win the section with 51lb 12oz.
Ian Hickson did manage a few margin carp, and along with a nice net of silvers he weighed in 43lb 8oz to take a well deserved second in section.
The remaining anglers in the section struggled a bit with the fish not really responding for those that opted to fish feeder rods, in a normally good area too where tip rods can be very good. It was one of those days today
