A strange day at the fishery today, bit of sun,bit of cloud and a nasty cold wind. 16 anglers competed in the open this week split between Queensberry and Wallace’s, 8 on each lake. A good turn out considering a few of the regulars weren’t there. But good to see some new faces to the match scene this year Daryn, David, Leigh and someone called John Wright. John Williamson got off to a flyer from peg 17 on Queensberry 9 seconds between bites on the tip, however my pairs partner’s great start didn’t last. Broom regular Don Lines was as consistent as usual catching a fantastic mixed bag from peg 23 on Queensberry tipping the scales at 61lb 6ozs. Second was Jerry Blythe with another great mixed bag for 43lb 6ozs from peg 21. Owner John Wright drew peg 32 on Wallace’s, so everyone thought they were fishing for second, but due to the bright conditions and clear water he was unable to capitalise on the draw. Ian Whitson won on Wallace’s with 46lb from peg 46 and Simon Heyes had a great net of silvers, with a few Carp for 44lb and second from peg 36. Considering the conditions some fantastic weights on both waters. Well done to all.
