Low cloud, overcast with drizzly rain for most of the day today, with temperatures around 8°c.
9 anglers turned out to fish the match, one which turned out to be pretty close with only the odd bonus fish making the difference.
Today’s winner was Geoff Whittle who’d had a very slow match up until around 2.45pm.. With just a handful of small silvers to his name he switched to fishing ? a feeder with a boilie, casting tight across to the culvert. One carp turned into about 8 Carp including one of 7lbs which gave him a winning weight of 30lbs 10oz.. A great effort in the last hour to come from nowhere and snatch the win.!
Second place today went to Barry Young who had a few big ide, small skimmers and F1 carp on maggot and worm fished on the pole, with two late carp on the feeder to weigh in 27lb 8oz, not much in it between the top two.
Ian Whitson, Steve Royle, David Mcgregor and David Mcauley all had a decent days fishing on pole catching a mix of silvers.. Ide, chub, skimmers, roach and perch.
Maggots seems to be the superior bait at the moment.. Feeding worm is not doing anyone any favours.. If anything it’s slowing up the bites.. A useful tip for anyone visiting / fishing here over the coming weeks.
Both ” DNW” s in the results caught fish but tipped back due to fading light to help speed up the weigh – in.. Cheers guys.!
Apologies today for the lack of “Catch shots”.. Purely down to the rain ☔ and poor light.
