A bit of a breeze tonight, gusting around 20mph, but a nice dry evening and a very good turnout for the Friday night match.
Don Lines won the Queensberry Water section with a superb 53lb net of skimmers, caught on maggot / pole, Don switched to pole with the culvert producing nothing on the tip rod.. A good move..!
Geoffrey Brough took 2nd place with 44lbs of carp, and yet again with the rod not producing, switched to the pole in the margin to tempt some nice sized carp.
Ian Hickson was a respectable 3rd with 32lb +, which could have been a bit more if he’d not lost a big double and a few smaller carp.
On Wallace Lake Barry Young won the section with 33lbs of carp and 19lbs of skimmers for a 52lb total weight, and yet again, all caught on pole with the exception of 2 small carp, using sweetcorn.
Mark Clow took second place with 5 small carp and a nice net of silvers for 34lb +, caught on pole / maggot at 13m.
Gerald Carswell (3rd) and Paul Spencer (4th) both recorded decent back up weights with 30lb +, only a mere 2oz separating them.
Myles Watt was unfortunate on peg 46, getting smashed up by carp on the pole.
Well done guys, and many thanks for a well supported match..!
